Welcome to the Weird World of That’s Not My Neighbor

That’s Not My Neighbor is not your average puzzle or horror game — it's a creepy, clever experience that keeps you second-guessing yourself throughout. You play as a doorman in an alternate 1950s where doppelgängers (creepy impostors) have started infiltrating society. Your job? Let the real tenants in and keep the fakes out. Easy enough… until it isn’t.

Simple Job, Terrifying Twist

At first, the gameplay seems pretty chill. A tenant walks up, you check their documents, match their face, make sure everything looks right — and either buzz them in or deny entry. But as the game goes on, the differences between the real neighbors and their doppelgängers get harder to spot. Maybe the photo’s slightly off. Maybe the name is one letter different. Or maybe something just feels wrong.

That’s where the tension kicks in. You will continually question your decisions, and one poor decision could have some rather unsettling repercussions. The game doesn’t rely on loud jump scares — the unease creeps in slowly, and that’s what makes it so good.

Every Decision Matters

Each interaction is like a mini puzzle. The game doesn't hold your hand, but it does give you enough hints to help you identify the fakes. ID cards, apartment numbers, tenant files, and even minor behavioral clues are all details you'll need to be extremely aware of. The gameplay has a strong horror bent and is reminiscent of Papers, Please.

With each shift, there seems to be increasing pressure as more doppelgängers show up; the risk of letting one in rises. You’ll want to do your job well, not just to survive, but because it feels important. Messing up can get intense — sometimes in unexpected ways.

For Fans of Clever Gameplay and Suspense

That's Not My Neighbor is worth playing if you enjoy games that keep your mind sharp and your nerves jangled. Its setting is unique, its gameplay is clever, and its atmosphere is genuinely unsettling and lingers. Part of what makes the experience so fulfilling is that you never truly feel safe.

The sound design heightens the tension without going overboard, and the artwork is simple yet expressive. A well-designed, targeted game that captivates you from the first minute is all that is present, without any superfluous fluff or a lengthy tutorial.
